Child Marriage Free Zone Declaration at Mahottari

Our team ASTHA is successful in conducting Child Marriage Free Zone Declaration at Ward No 10 and 11 (former Khayarmaya VDC), Bardibas Municipality, Mahottari. We would like to thanks Bardibas Municipality for successfully organizing and chairing the event. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the participants, distinguished guests from Ministry of Women, children and social welfare, Department of women and children, DFID, Governance Facility, UN CEDAW committee, District coordination committee, founder of Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation, journalists, representatives from government and non government agencies.
Witnessed by more than 2500 participants, a declaration was made by secretary of MoWCSW, Khagaraj Baral, by presenting declaration paper showing the commitment against child and early marriage to the overwhelming mass. UN CEDAW committee member Bandana Rana, in the meantime, flagged the banner whereas the Secretary from ministry lit the lamp to symbolize the enlightenment against child marriage.
The enthusiastic participants, students from different schools, member of different community groups, participants from other VDCs and other community members joined their hands for commitment by signing the commitment letter.

Welcome Message

Saathi meaning ‘friend’ in Nepali is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation, which was established in 1992 to address contemporary challenges being faced by Nepali women. In keeping with this agenda, Saathi identified Violence Against Women (VAW) and Children (C) as an area requiring urgent attention and intervention and has been working on this issue since this time.
