April 10–11, 2025 – Kanchanpur, Nepal – As part of the GOAL Project (Generating Ownership, Awareness, and Liberty: From Harmful Gender Stereotypes and SGBV) under the auspices of Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal (AEIN), Luxembourg, Saathi extended financial assistance to five survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Kanchanpur district. This initiative aims to foster economic independence and promote sustainable livelihoods for women affected by GBV.

The support reached three women from Shuklaphanta Municipality and two from Krishnapur Municipality, enabling them to initiate or expand small businesses. Of the five beneficiaries, three received support to start goat farming, one launched a grocery retail shop, and another began a fast-food business. These efforts reflect Saathi’s commitment to long-term empowerment and the rebuilding of confidence among GBV survivors through financial stability and self-reliance.

The financial aid was distributed in coordination with local ward offices and municipal authorities. Speaking at the event, Mr. Arjun Singh Saud, Chairperson of Ward No. 2 of Krishnapur Municipality, shared his thoughts:

“This assistance will help strengthen the livelihood of the survivors, empowering them both economically and socially.”

Ms. Kalpana Kumari Joshi, Deputy Mayor of Shuklaphanta Municipality, also highlighted the broader significance of the initiative:

“This support is not just about the financial amount—it’s about encouraging survivors to break their silence against violence and discrimination, and to take steps toward economic empowerment.”

Through the GOAL Project, Saathi continues to work toward creating safe, inclusive, and economically secure environments for women and girls. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure survivors of GBV have access to essential services, livelihood opportunities, and the confidence to reclaim their autonomy.
