Kanchanpur, June 2, 2025 – Saathi, in collaboration with AEIN: Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal, (AEIN), is making tangible strides in combating gender stereotypes and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) through its GOAL project. A recent field visit on 2 June 2025 by the monitoring team highlighted the project’s growing impact in Ward No. 2 of Krishnapur and Shuklaphanta Municipality.

The monitoring team included AEIN Country Director Mr. Ramesh Twayana, Saathi Executive Director Ms. Suvekchya Rana, and Program Manager Mr. Anup Nasnani. They visited communities to observe firsthand the ongoing project interventions aimed at creating a violence-free, gender-equal society.

During the visit, the team engaged with six GBV survivors who had received seed funding through the project. These individuals have initiated micro-enterprises—ranging from goat and cow farming to tailoring, grocery, and fast food businesses—as a path toward financial independence and healing. Beneficiaries reported improved economic security and emotional well-being as a result of the support.

The team also held dialogues with local community members, who praised the project’s emphasis on economic empowerment, adolescent engagement, and awareness-raising efforts. They noted that these interventions have played a vital role in changing mindsets and promoting social cohesion.

The Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 11 in Shuklaphanta Municipality expressed heartfelt appreciation for the project’s contributions, emphasizing its deep and lasting impact on the community.

The visit reaffirmed the strength of Saathi’s multi-faceted approach—focusing on economic empowerment, awareness, and inclusive community mobilization—in reducing harmful gender norms and preventing SGBV. With continued support from AEIN, the GOAL project is proving to be a vital driver of social transformation in Kanchanpur and beyond.
