June 7, 2025 – Kathmandu – Saathi successfully conducted a one-day Life Skills and Leadership Training on June 7, 2025, with thirty adolescents residing at Saathi’s Safer Home. These young participants had recently appeared for their Grades 10, 11, and 12 examinations and are preparing for significant life transitions into higher education, vocational training, or reintegration into their families.
The session began with a light-hearted introduction activity to break the ice and build rapport among the participants. The core of the training commenced with a powerful self-awareness exercise titled “My Hand, My Life.” This reflective activity guided participants to explore their personal identities, recognize their strengths and achievements, and identify key social support figures in their lives. The exercise also encouraged them to articulate their life goals and areas for improvement, serving as an eye-opener as they prepare for the next stages of their journey.
A crucial part of the day was a session on healthy communication and career guidance, emphasizing the importance of effective communication in making informed academic and professional choices. Participants learned how clear and respectful communication can support their personal growth and decision-making.
This was followed by an engaging session on mental health, where participants gained a basic understanding of mental health challenges and were introduced to healthy coping mechanisms for managing stress and emotional difficulties.
The training concluded with a practical session on leadership skills, where participants explored how leadership can positively impact personal development and social integration. The session highlighted the value of active participation and responsibility in society, which is especially vital for those preparing for reintegration.
The day’s activities were designed to be interactive, reflective, and practical, leaving participants feeling more confident, self-aware, and prepared for their future endeavors.
This initiative is part of Saathi’s ongoing commitment to empowering and supporting adolescents with the skills and confidence they need to navigate life successfully.
