February 22, 2026, Kanchanpur, Far-western Province – Saathi organized a series of peer-led awareness sessions in schools across both project areas from 17 to 22 February 2026. The sessions were facilitated by graduates of the Training of Trainers (TOT) program, who engaged their peer groups with technical support from Saathi. A total of 122 students participated and were sensitized on key topics including gender equality, the importance of safe and inclusive school environments, and hygienic and dignified menstrual health practices.
The sessions went beyond awareness raising and encouraged meaningful action within the schools. Peer support groups were formed, creating platforms for students to continue learning from and supporting one another. In addition, schools designated gender focal teachers to guide and sustain gender-related initiatives, helping ensure that these efforts continue beyond the initial sessions.
Through interactive discussions and reflections, students recognized their own role in promoting safety, inclusion, and respectful behavior within their school environment. The process strengthened a sense of collective responsibility among students and school stakeholders, contributing to the creation of safer, more inclusive, and supportive learning spaces.
These activities were conducted under the GOAL Project across both project areas. The GOAL Project is implemented with the support of AEIN – Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal, with funding from the Luxembourg Ministry of Development Cooperation and the Luxembourg Ministry of Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development.
