March 3, 2026, Shuklaphanta, Far-western Province – With the support of Saathi, Women-Led Groups organized a Holi Special Awareness Program in Shuklaphanta on 2–3 March 2026 to promote gender equality and challenge harmful gender stereotypes within the community.

The program aimed to raise awareness about social norms and stereotypes that limit the social and economic opportunities of women and girls. During the event, participants emphasized that equality within families and communities contributes to the overall prosperity and well-being of society.

Participants also shared experiences related to discriminatory practices surrounding menstruation and discussed the need to eliminate harmful traditions that increase the vulnerability of women and girls. Through folk songs and awareness messages performed during the celebration, they encouraged community members to reflect on these practices and support more inclusive attitudes.

The discussions further highlighted the importance of engaging men and boys in promoting gender equality and encouraging responsible and respectful behavior within families and communities.

A total of 36 women participated in the program. The event concluded with participants celebrating Holi through transformative and awareness-oriented songs, reflecting the cultural significance of the festival while promoting positive social change at the community level.

These activities were conducted under the GOAL Project across both project areas. The GOAL Project is implemented with the support of AEIN – Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal, with funding from the Luxembourg Ministry of Development Cooperation and the Luxembourg Ministry of Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development.
