May 9, 2026, Far-western Province – Saathi successfully organized a three-day GBV Case Management Training under the GBVPR-II Program supported by UNFPA from 7–9 May 2026 in Dhangadhi to strengthen the capacity of frontline service providers working in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response across Sudurpashchim Province. A total of 27 participants from eight districts, representing One-Stop Crisis Management Centers (OCMCs), Women, Children and Senior Citizen Service Centers of District Police Offices, local governments, and women safe houses, participated in the training. The sessions focused on survivor-centered case management, documentation, trauma-informed approaches, communication skills, referral mechanisms, gender and power dynamics, and rights-based approaches to GBV response.

Participants reflected that the training provided them with deeper practical understanding of structured case management processes and survivor-centered response mechanisms. Several participants shared that this was their first formal exposure to comprehensive case management approaches, while others realized that they had been practicing some aspects of case management without a clear conceptual understanding. Representatives from OCMCs also highlighted an important shift in perspective, recognizing that their role extends beyond immediate treatment and referrals to include follow-up care and continuous support for survivors even after case closure. Participants further emphasized the importance of psychosocial counseling, mental well-being, and stronger coordination among service providers to ensure holistic support for survivors.

During his observation of the training, Mr. Raj Kumar Dhungana, Head of UNFPA Sudurpashchim Province, emphasized the importance of integrated survivor support services, accessible legal mechanisms, and increased sensitivity among police, courts, and service providers to strengthen hope, dignity, and long-term recovery for survivors. The training marks an important step toward strengthening coordinated and survivor-centered GBV response systems in Sudurpashchim Province and reinforcing the collective commitment of stakeholders to ensuring effective support, protection, and empowerment for survivors of violence.
