Lalitpur, August 21, 2023 – Saathi organized a consultation on August 21, 2023, for women disability rights activists. The event aimed at raising awareness among women disability rights activists on CEDAW mechanism and the provisions about disability included therein. Given Nepal’s recent submission of its 7th periodic report to the treaty body, civil society is preparing a shadow report in response. This interaction educated participants on the rights of women with disabilities and intersectionality, as guaranteed by the international treaty. This knowledge will be utilized to reference CEDAW provisions in the upcoming shadow report, enhancing the intersectional and transformative nature of the gender equality movement.
