Kanchanpur, March 8, 2025, Saathi, in coordination with Krishna and Shuklaphata Municipalities, organized events to celebrate the 115th International Women’s Day under the GOAL Project, supported by AEIN, Luxembourg. The celebrations focused on rights, equality, and empowerment for women and children. In Krishna Municipality, Deputy Mayor Droupati Rana chaired the event, with Mayor Hemraj Ojha and Provincial Assembly Member Gita Chaudhary as key guests. The event was attended by 300 participants, enjoying cultural performances such as Deuda, Tharu dance, and Holi dance. Provincial Assembly Member Gita Chaudhary emphasized economic empowerment through skill-based programs and acknowledged Saathi’s role in advocating for gender equality. Mayor Hemraj Ojha stressed that education and skill development for women can reduce gender-based violence and improve economic independence. Deputy Mayor Droupati Rana assured continued municipal support in addressing violence against women and praised Saathi for its efforts in women’s empowerment. Ward No. 5 Chairperson urged continuous respect for women beyond Women’s Day and appreciated Saathi’s awareness initiatives.

In Shuklaphata Municipality, Deputy Mayor Kalpana Pant chaired the celebration, with Mayor Ran Bahadur Mahara as the chief guest. The event saw participation from 100 attendees, including child clubs, local organizations, and municipal representatives. Deputy Mayor Kalpana Pant reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to providing skill-based training and supporting survivors of violence. Mayor Ran Bahadur Mahara highlighted education and responsible social media use as crucial in preventing gender-based violence, appreciating Saathi’s advocacy. Ward No. 11 Chairperson Sher Bahadur Saud expressed gratitude for Saathi’s continuous collaboration and its support in uplifting affected individuals. Saathi counselor Rajmati Bhatt shared insights on Saathi’s information center, online violence prevention, and the organization’s longstanding contributions to gender-based violence intervention. Both events, with a combined participation of 400 individuals, reinforced the GOAL Project’s mission to foster gender equality and support survivors, with Saathi playing a vital role in these efforts.
