Kanchanpur, February 28, 2025 – Saathi organized awareness programs on gender-based violence (GBV) and digital safety with ward-level child clubs in Krishnapur (February 19) and Shuklaphanta (February 28) as part of the GOAL Project (Generating Ownership, Awareness, and Liberty), implemented under the auspices of AEIN Luxembourg.

These interactive sessions aimed to empower adolescents with critical knowledge on various forms of GBV prevalent in their communities, particularly those occurring through social media and digital platforms. Participants explored the root causes of gender-based violence and discussed ways to challenge discriminatory norms that perpetuate inequality.

The discussions emphasized the importance of creating safe spaces at home and school and encouraged young participants to break the silence against GBV. Reflecting on their own experiences, child club members highlighted the deep-rooted social and cultural structures that sustain gender discrimination. However, they expressed that programs like these boost their confidence to challenge harmful norms and advocate for change.

The event was attended by 30 representatives from ward-level child clubs across both municipalities, fostering a sense of collective responsibility in addressing GBV and promoting gender equality.

Through the GOAL Project, Saathi continues to engage adolescents as key agents of change, ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the knowledge and confidence to build a more inclusive and violence-free society.
