May 19, 2024 – Saathi oriented School students on cyber safety and combating online violence against children. The orientation sessions were conducted in 2 schools – Uday Secondary School, Krishnapur Municipality (conducted on May 17, 2024) & Saraswoti Secondary School, Shuklaphanta Municipality (conducted on May 17, 2024). The events sensitized 188 students on cybercrime, covering the topics such as online safety measures, data protection, and the crucial role of strong passwords in thwarting digital threats.

Students learned about various forms of online violence on social networks and received essential tips on staying safe and vigilant. One student remarked, “It was essential to learn about the forms of online violence that happen via social networks and how to be safe and careful from various natures and forms of online abuse.” The Principal of Saraswati Secondary School termed the session as relevant and effective as the parents and school face daunting challenge of misuse of social media posing threat to safety, security and wellbeing of children.

This initiative is part of Saathi’s ongoing program, Generating Ownership Awareness & Liberation (GOAL): From Harmful Gender Stereotypes and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), supported by AEIN Luxembourg. The three year GOAL program has been instrumental in raising awareness and educating young individuals about harmful gender stereotypes and SGBV, extending its reach to include crucial topics like cyber safety.
