February 21–27, 2025 – Saathi organized a series of meetings with women’s groups to sensitize community members on gender-based violence (GBV) and strengthen their role in its prevention. A total of seven meetings were conducted in the project areas—six in Shuklaphanta and one in Krishnapur Municipality—bringing together 135 women group members to discuss their role in keeping their communities free from violence and supporting survivors.
Key topics of discussion included:
- Community roles and responsibilities in preventing and responding to GBV.
- Referral mechanisms, including access to police, municipalities, One-Stop Crisis Management Centers (OCMCs), and community organizations for survivor support.
- Reporting procedures for GBV cases to relevant agencies such as Saathi and local governments (Palikas).
- Saathi’s newly established Information Center, which provides essential services and information for survivors and community members.
Through the GOAL Project (Generating Ownership, Awareness, and Liberty), Saathi, under the auspices of AEIN Luxembourg, has been instrumental in raising awareness, shifting mindsets, and promoting behavioral change. These efforts have empowered community members to take an active role in preventing GBV and advancing gender equality.
