August 1, 2023 – Saathi conducted a 3-day training on Disability Inclusion from 30th July to 1st August 2023. The event was organized in Pokhara and aimed at capacitating the board members and program staff of participating Civil Society Organizations under the “Strengthening CSOs and Amplifying Children’s Voices through Networking, Knowledge Sharing, and Action Learning for Promoting Children’s Rights in Nepal (SANKALP) program.”
A total of 39 participants representing 13 civil society organizations from Madhesh, Karnali, and Bagmati provinces took part in the training. The primary objective of this training was to promote and mainstream disability-inclusive initiatives in organizations and programs, with the aim of fostering a more inclusive society for all.
Dr. Birendra Raj Pokharel, renowned disability rights advocate, and Bandana Rana, global gender expert and incumbent expert member at CEDAW, facilitated the event, inculcating the participants with different ideas demystifying stereotypes related to disabilities, providing concept of social justice for disability inclusion, and the gendered aspects of disability, among others.
Saathi has been the gender technical partner for the SANKALP program. The project is being implemented under the auspices of Save the Children with funding from the Swedish International Development Corporation Agency (SIDA).
